I often assign homework. It may be an extension activity related to a theme or be designed to provide practice of a newly acquired skill. Homework may also be work not completed in school, or an assignment that needs to be reviewed, corrected, and then returned. Students must complete his/her homework on a daily basis.
All homework will be written down in the student’s assignment notebook before he/she leaves school. If there is an emergency where the child could not complete their homework, please send a note to school. A child may turn in an assignment the next day, but it will be considered late, and points will be taken off.
Each time a child has an incomplete assignment, a missing homework slip requiring a parent signature will be given. Students will not be allowed to have recess, free time, behavior tickets, etc until the slip is turned in with a parent signature. Students will only be allowed to miss 5 assignments a quarter. The homework slip will say on it if this is the students 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5th missing assignment. After 5 missing assignments, students will be required to serve a half hour before school detention. I will call home to arrange detentions if necessary.
